The Avon Lake Boat Club lost one of its longest standing members, Jim Smith. For years his boat was prominently positioned in the first space next to the flag pole distinguishing his seniority with the Club. Jim was a great man and a true "character", and he will be missed.

2013 Walleye Derby
8 boats of die-hard fishermen opted to fish in the 2013 ALBC Walleye Derby. It started dry, but turned to a light rain throughout the morning. The big winner was Brian Lam who with his partner was able to bring back 2 tickets, the largest of the fish being 28 inches. Second place went to Dave Kalo with one fish caught. See all the pictures on our pictures tab.
The first annual ALBC Family Fishing Derby
The first annual ALBC Family Fishing Derby took place on Saturday, June
8th. Fishing participants were greeted with sunny skies with
temperatures in the low 80's and waves that were 2 feet for less all day
long. Many families participated for this first time event and were
rewarded by some outstanding perch fishing and some decent walleye action
to boot. The perch and walleye winners reported the best action about 1.5
miles north east of the boat club. A few nice walleye were also taken
fishing worm harnesses and crank baits in the same area. The biggest
walleye in the tournament was caught in the youth division by Ethan Lam on
a Purple Prism Reef Runner crankbait. The biggest perch (13.25) was
caught in the adult division by Scott Francy on a perch rig. The family
must have been on a hot bite because the son Daniel Francy also pulled in
a 11 inch monster for the youth division. Sponsors for the event were
Romeo's pizza, Jake's on the Lake, Avon Lake BW3's, Avon Lake Dairy Queen,
Erie Outfitters, John's bait and tackle, Marco's Pizza, George Puskas
remodeling, and Aqua Marine Golf Course. Please support our local
business for the generous donations and thank them for making it a great
event.
